Video Codecs with Sonicfire Pro 6
Sonicfire Pro 6 no longer relies on Windows Media Player to play back video on PCs. Sonicfire Pro 6 now uses DirectShow, which is more accurate with video syncing, but does not provide access to all of the codecs that are available to Windows Media Player. This means that you may need to have the relevant codecs installed from another source into order to playback a particular format within Sonicfire Pro 6. If you have recently uninstalled Quicktime for Windows, you may not be able to play .mov or .mp4 files until you install the relevant codecs. Camcorders will usually use custom codecs, and may not be able to be played back without first converting to a more common format.
Apple ProRes codecs for Mac and Avid DNX codecs for PC are recommended and are available from the following sources:
H.264 or DivX in MP4 or AVI format are also supported if the relevant codecs are present. 3rd party codec packs such as the K-Lite Codec Pack can also provide support for common codecs. The best editing format will depend on your system specifications and workflow.
