SmartSound Database could not be opened properly
By admin

If you try to run Sonicfire Pro 5 or the Quicktracks plugin and you get a message that says "The SmartSound Database could not be opened properly", then you will need to replace the master database file. Please follow the steps below:

If using Sonicfire Pro 5:

1. Download the Master.ssdb file and save it to your desktop.

2. Navigate to the SmartSound directory:
  • Mac OS: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/SmartSound/
  • Windows Vista / Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\SmartSound Software Inc\
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software In

Note that the "ProgramData" and "Application Data" folders may be hidden folders in Windows. Make sure you can view hidden files and folders.

3. Open the "Libraries" folder in the SmartSound directory.

4. Delete the "Master.ssdb" and "Local.ssdb" files from the Libraries folder

5. Copy the new Master.ssdb file from your desktop into the Libraries folder

6. Launch Sonicfire Pro 5 and it should now run properly.

If you still get the same error message, look in the Libraries folder for a file called "UserData4.sxl" and delete it, then repeat the steps 4-6 and try again.

If using Quicktracks:

1. Download the MasterLibraries.zip file, save it to your desktop and unzip it to access the "Master Libraries.sxl" file.

2. Navigate to the SmartSound directory:
  • Mac OS: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/SmartSound/
  • Windows Vista / Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\SmartSound Software Inc\
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software In

Note that the "ProgramData" and "Application Data" folders are hidden by default in Windows. Make sure you can view hidden files and folders.

3. Open the "Libraries" folder in the SmartSound directory.

4. Delete the "Master Libraries.sxl" and "Compiled Libraries.sxl" files from the Libraries folder

5. Copy the new Master Libraries.sxl file from your desktop into the Libraries folder

6. Launch Quicktracks and it should now run properly.
