Press Release - 09/26/01 Sonic Desktop Software named one of Los Angeles area's fastest growing technology companies in Deloitte & Touche 'Fast 50' program
Developers of award-winning SmartSound products see 567% revenue growth since 1996

NORTHRIDGE, CA - September 26, 2001 — Sonic Desktop Software, the leader in soundtrack creation technology, has been named to Deloitte & Touche's prestigious '2001 Los Angeles Technology Fast 50' program, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the area. Rankings are based on the percentage of growth in revenues from 1996-2000. With a growth of 567% since 1996, Sonic Desktop placed 16th on the list.

"In an era where technology companies come and go like shooting stars, making the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 is a testament to a company's leadership and its ability to not only have the right solution for that moment in time, but also the vision that allows growth over five years," said Gary Dickey, partner, Technology & Communications Group, Deloitte & Touche. "Sonic Desktop has proven they have the right stuff to succeed, and we at Deloitte & Touche salute its accomplishments."

"We are proud to have been included on this list of such high performance companies. It's a testament to a great team of hardworking people, and our consistent focus on creating value for our customers," said Kevin Klingler, president and CEO of Sonic Desktop Software.

Klingler went on to say that the company achieved its success by focusing on its core software product offering and the customers who were purchasing it -- in the late '90s when many other entrepreneurs and businesses rolled the dice on Internet ventures, Sonic Desktop remained focused on a decidedly non-Internet niche and built the business slowly and methodically. It has emerged as the leader in soundtrack creation for visual content creators, an area whose growth is steadily increasing.

To qualify for the Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 1996 and $1,000,000 in 2000; must be public or private companies headquartered in the Los Angeles area developing and/or providing technology products or services; and must have been in business for at least five years. The finalists are eligible to compete in the "Technology Fast 500," also sponsored by Deloitte & Touche, and ranking the nation's top 500 fastest growing technology companies.

Winners of the 21 regional Fast 50 programs in the United States are automatically entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology companies.
